Safeguarding

The Purpose of Walesby Forest 2018 is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

It is the policy of Walesby Forest 2018 to safeguard the welfare of all participants by protecting them from physical, sexual and emotional harm. To achieve this policy of Young People First, it is a requirement for all persons to act within a code of behaviour when dealing with young people at our event

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring your own camping equipment so that you can camp and cook as a self sufficient unit/group.
If you require additional equipment please let us know and we will do our best to source this for you.

How big will my site be?

As with most Jamboree Experiences, space has to be limited to allow everyone to fit in a sensible camping area. We are allocating roughly 20 meters square for 20 people. This space includes your tents and communal areas – such as cooking and dining space. We estimate that this will be sufficient for a group size of 20 so if you have more just book the numbers of sites needed for your group.

Can we bring a marquee?

You will have the space per group of 20 allocated as above (20 meters square). For larger groups it will probably make sense to use a marquee proportional to the number of participants. If you only have a few people, a dinning shelter may make a better use of your space. Whatever you bring, please ensure it will fit within your allocated area(s).

LPG Gas Supplies?

We supply Calor gas which can be ordered from the administration office and will be delivered to your site.  If a group wants to hire a cylinder (i.e. don’t have an exchange) we have a refill agreement of £39.99 per cylinder. This is refunded if the cylinder is returned.

Supermarket Deliveries

Supermarkets are able to deliver to our dedicated collection point- please book you delivery for between 8am and 8pm or it will be rejected. The postcode for deliveries is NG22 9NG

Disabled Facilities

We will have an accessible shower and changing unit on site, with a fully disabled toilet and shower facility in the camp centre and facilities suitable for persons with a disability in other toilets.
The site being flat and level supports disabled access around site and a number of the activities are disabled assessable with activity managers who are very supportive to ensuring as far as reasonably possible all participants get to experience the full range of activities on offer at Walesby Forest.

Can I bring a generator?

As is tradition in jamborees the camping style is much closer than normal and in the interests of fairness to other campers the use of generators is prohibited, unless prior authorisation has been given.

Cooking and open fired BBQs?

ALL cooking MUST be done on gas, No open fires are permitted. Equipment should not be left unattended when in use. All gas cylinders should be located at least one meter away from the cooking area and the supply disconnected when not in use. Adequate fire precautions should be provided by each group. As a minimum groups should have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket available in the cooking area.

Clothing and skin protection

The weather can be very unpredictable. Please ensure that you have suitable protection for both hot and inclement weather – i.e. sun cream, a hat and plenty of water in the heat, waterproofs and a set of clean warm clothing to replace clothes that get wet, especially when going off site. As we are in the forest it is advisable to bring insect repellant. In addition please ensure participants have the correct clothing for activities. e.g. old shoes for lake.
